Cheap Snowboard Packages - Are they worth it?

If you’ve done your research you may be wondering how it’s possible that we can sell a complete snowboard package for the same price that you might find the major brands selling just the board without bindings or boots included. So what gives? Are we trying to sell you garbage? Will your snowboard package fall apart after a few times?

The simple answer is absolutely not, but here’s a bit more insight as to why we can sell for the prices we do.

Products designed for beginners - Our products have one purpose and that’s to get you on the mountain having fun as quickly as possible. Our snowboards for example are soft flexing and forgiving, which is exactly what you need to learn. While they might lack the bells and whistles a $500 + board has, a beginner doesn’t need and won’t appreciate those features. In fact a snowboard that’s too responsive may hinder your riding when you’re just starting out.  

If it’s not broken… You’ve heard the saying. Many of the major brands change models and graphics year after year, often not even changing technology. All of these things cost money. At 5th Element we work hard to develop modern relevant products but unless we see a need for a major change we stick with what works. 

Small but mighty - Our team is tiny. That means smaller overhead which again helps us keep our prices low. That being said, we’ve all worked in the industry for 15+ years. We constantly test our own products and that of competitors and work tirelessly on bringing you the best product we can.

Where’s the pro team?  You may not see us sponsoring athletes or paying for pricey ads like some of the larger brands out there. While we absolutely appreciate what our friends at other brands are doing for the industry, we feel that our impact comes from lowering the barrier to entry as much as possible but keeping our snowsports gear affordable.

But for real, is it garbage? If you’re not convinced yet that the reason we’re able to make our snowboard package prices so cheap is by cutting some of these costs, then this might convince you. To be completely frank, we make our products in a lot of the same factories that our friends from other brands do. You won’t see the hottest new tech from us like theirs, but you will see quality gear that gets you into the sport. At 5th Element we like to say “we don’t want to be your forever board”. What we want is to be that first board that you keep on the wall or in the basement because it’s the one that got you hooked. We want to be the ones to introduce you to the thing we love the most…the world of snowsports.
